DREAM ELEMENTS FROM PARCEL # 18

kristine ong muslim

In the den, the framed photographs
of long-dead relatives are touched up
to conceal the details underneath--
landmarks to imaginary caves.

You look closely, notice a regenerating
segment of a worm on the picture
frame's border, overhear strangers
talking in the kitchen. They decide

which words to carve on your epitaph.
Now, you have been transformed into
a thread spinning around a bobbin; the
sound of clicking scissors wakes you up.
